GETTING TO KNOW: Jacob of Surf Curse
With the steady success of Buds, the new album by Surf Curse, you would expect some cocky vibes from the Nevada duo but that isn’t the case at all! It’s actually the complete opposite.
With upbeat and fast paced tracks like Chloe Kelly and Goth Babe, down to slow and thoughtful songs like Dreamin’ Wild and Freaks, Buds has a broad spectrum of sound and lyricism that goes above and beyond to prove that Surf Curse is getting serious but having fun too.
FRESH: Hey! So first off, congratulations on releasing Buds! How did your release show at the Smell go?
Jacob: Thank you so much! It was pretty crazy! We almost had a sold out show with one week of notice so that felt very overwhelming. Our set was pretty crazy, the crowd was going pretty nuts. We had a breakdown during Heathers and it felt like everyone in the room was singing with us. During our last song we were trying to play the last note and all these kids started grabbing me and hugging me, it was so beautiful. Me and Nick both keep talking about how amazing and surreal that show was.
